Dance, Dance

I am excited. I am excited for fantasy sports. I am excited for March Madness. I’m excited for nice weather. What I’m not excited about is being tired.

I pulled off two trips to the Verizon Center: first on Tuesday for a Raptors/Wizard’s game and then on Friday for a Capital’s game. Ben and I went to the Wizards game, it was a total domination of the Toronto Raptors, a thrashing that left me wondering what sport Canada doesn’t suck at? Maybe it’s Hockey. Dan decided to make the game a little more interesting with a little wager on the total points of the game. I grossly miscalculated the scoring potential. One of Margaret’s friends won the pot. It was my first time traveling down there by car, which I carpooled with Margaret. Amazingly DC isn’t that bad at night.

Friday I went to the Capital’s game with Rebecca- and it was a lot of fun. There was a fight which kept me entertained as the home team lost. Of course after seeing numerous National’s game I’m used to see a DC team lose. After the game I got a word that Doug, Sarah, and Emily were in my hood at Dr. Dreamo’s. Carolyn and I went down there to meet up and enjoy the many selection of beers they had to offer. It’s too bad they don’t sell any liquor. I should go back and check it out when the open the beach patio. After throwing some darts that night I’ve come to realize that I should stop trying to put money into Jukeboxes- they never play the song you want.

There’s been a lot of transient faces at my house- my roommate Simon brought back some drunk chick who proceeded to spend the entire night in the bathroom washing her face and throwing up. However she also cleaned the entire bathroom when I got up. That’s gotta be a plus.

Last night I went out with Melissa to Union Jacks, and I had a really fun night. Melissa certainly dances to her own beat. I also noticed an influx of older gentlemen, definitely higher than usual. Now dancing with 20 somethings when you’re 70 is one thing, trying to get their numbers after last call is something else. Gross.

This new Daylight Savings Time situation has left me with even less sleep than usual. I walked in last night and wondered how I was out for that long. I don’t like how my computer updated the time but my VCR didn’t. I know this will probably lead to problems in a month.

Oh I just thought of more things to be excited about: WWE Raw at tomorrow (I know, real high class Patrick- but at least the Donald will be in town) and St. Patrick’s Day. Let’s hope I can make it through the week first.

Sweet Baby Jesus!

I am so happy. It is mostly because I have the internet back. Of course my social life hasn’t been too shabby either. Let’s go back.

September 11th has come and gone again. This being the five year anniversary MSNBC re-aired the Today Show from that day. It was really the first time I could actually pay attention and let the impact of the events set in. Five years ago I couldn’t believe what was happening but I was too busy running around trying to get television to the classrooms in my high school.

On Wednesday I met Brenna, a friend of Char who was staying in DC for an internship. I told Char I’d be happy to show her friend the sights. We went all over DC, stopping in Georgetown for Ice Cream and downtown to see the White House. It was a pretty cool night. She invited me back up to her apartment and we enjoyed the view from her roof. I’m going to see her again tomorrow.

Thursday Kim drove down for to spend a few days with me. We had dinner in Georgetown that night and watched Talladega Nights. I know it is about time I saw that movie. It was a great film- definitely now able to quote with the rest of office staff.

Friday I took Kim up to meet my MoCo friends. We were all having dinner to wish Ben off as he spends the next few months touring Europe with Falkor. We had an excellent night of dinner, getting lost in Germantown, and a great game of Balderdash.

Saturday I tried to go to the DMV to get my license changed to no avail. Now I know why people do not like the DMV. After that waste of time, Kim and I did some touristy things and visited the National Air and Space Museum. I remember little of the last time I visited it in the past so it was nice to see some of the sights again. That night Kim, Chris, and I went into Adams Morgan (AdMo) and enjoyed a few drinks.

Sunday was a little more chill- we went to a Nationals game where the Nats actually won! It is about time I get to see the home town win!

Throughout this past weekend I have been watching Season 1 of The Office- I think it is going to get added to the shows I watch. I gotta watch Season 2 before Season 3 starts this week!

Well I think this week will be a lot calmer than past. Looking forward to going out with Brenna tomorrow and going to see Dave Matthews Band on Saturday.

Turtle Power

Happy Labor Day Weekend! While others are away somewhere, I am still getting up early and trying to get some stuff done! I am finding it harder to get up for work this past week. I don’t know maybe I need more sleep. Maybe I am getting old. Went to another baseball game this week- this time Nationals vs. Phillies. When it comes to games at RFK Stadium- I get there earlier than I would for Orioles games (of course RFK is a lot closer, but traffic plays a factor still.) However I always get lost after I leave the stadium afterwards. This time I took Rebecca and Adam (who just moved here from Australia- accent and all). I really enjoy being able to bring the joy of really good baseball seats to all my friends. This was Adam’s first baseball game and he had a blast. I found out he has a job down the street from me. Wednesday Mallory and I checked out the new Gold’s Gym in Clarendon, I usually go to the one in Ballston but they just opened this new one (however it’s only like .5 miles closer to me). Gold’s is starting to look more like Starbucks everyday. The Clarendon one was a smaller than the Ballston one- but it had that great new gym smell, and really cool TV’s attached to the treadmills. Last night I hung out with Sarah and Andy and we all went to the Maryland vs. William and Mary game. I will tell you that campus is huge. We tailgated with some of Sarah’s family and Andy and I left our mark on the campus Armory. Maryland won, they pretty much dominated William and Mary. However I am still rooting for the Eagles in the ACC.

My sister is moving in to FSC today. I know soon I am going to realize that college is not coming back. That will suck.

The office is closed tomorrow- however I will still be stopping in for a bit of catchup work. But I will enjoy my Sunday with brunch and lots of shopping (thanks to a gift at work- thanks Dan!)

Why I Blog

Originally published at The Definitive Dmbosstone. Please leave any comments there.

Tonight someone asked me why I blog. To think back I have been blogging since I was fourteen or so- when I came up with my online pseudonym, Dmbosstone, a combination of my two (then) favorite bands. The Definitive Dmbosstone was a name conjured up by my friend Will. But back to the question why do I blog? I think of it this as a journal of sorts, I can look back on and remember what I did two, three years ago on this day. Of course I am not as intimate or personal with this online public display of my life as I could be with a real old fashion journal- but I kinda like exposing this little view into my life.

Of course I am not the only one who blogs, lots of people do it. I read the blogs of a lot of my friends, and there are millions of blogs in the blogosphere. How many are there? Well blogcount is a blog that blogs on well, how many blogs there may be on the web. Well there is no definite number, the amount is well over millions. Live Journal has over 1.5 million active users, and who knows the myspace and friendster users that blog on their profiles as well.

A lot of people blog, and they all do it for different reasons- for me I like the act of reflecting back on life while at the same time allowing others to share in the ramblings I enjoy to write.

It has been awhile since I have updated, what have I been up to? Well last week I had the treat to see two baseball games. Thursday I went with my favorite interns to see the Orioles in Baltimore. The next day I won the company tickets to see the Nationals play. I went to RFK with Rebecca, a girl I haven’t seen in the longest time. I am so happy she’s living in Alexandria. Chelmsford peeps represent. I had a nice long weekend from work, I took the time to paint and clean up the bathroom. A new coat of paint, new shower curtains and a other improvements make the bathroom look so much nicer. Other wise I was a lazy ass for the rest of the weekend. For the 4th I went out with the MoCo crew to see some fireworks. The show last for half an hour- a big improvement from Lowell’s 15 minutes and longer than the twenty minute show in DC. However I still want to try and see the show in DC next year.

Short week at work but I know it is going to be a tough one. I can not wait for the weekend again. Oh, I forgot- I am switching to Verizon and I got a really sweet Razr in the process. Rock on.

Love And Marriage

Originally published at The Definitive Dmbosstone. Please leave any comments there.

So this week was pretty exciting. Isn’t great when I start a post like that? Monday I spent the night with some of the TMG interns (I call them the kids- despite the fact they are 2 years younger than me). We all went to the Washington Nationals game (I heart office drawings). My office often has drawings to baseball games- and a few of us formed a ticket alliance. Nine innings and a couple of Miller Lites later, the Nationals lost against the Rockies- but it was a fun game for all. This weekend I flew back up to Massachusetts to film a wedding. I have been flying back to Massachusetts way too much recently- but I think this time was the last time. The night before the wedding I hung out with Phil, we watched An Inconvenient Truth. I thought it was a good movie even though in reality it was a 90 minute power point presentation. Al Gore really entertained me despite what you would think of Al Gore. The wedding was a fun time, I had Melanie come with me to help and it was great hanging out with her. I was telling Mel about Heidi, the girl I met on the Metro- and she called just as I was talking about her. We are planning to hang out sometime later this week. I am excited. After the reception we tried to go to Lowell to meet up with our friend Colleen, but it proved to be useless as we got lost around Lowell and Dracut. After a 7:35 AM flight I am back in the district. It has been hot here so I have my AC on- I do not think Al would be happy but I like my creature comforts. I was also thinking about walking to work- just as Al had suggested but now with this heat- I am not so sure. I am such a lazy bum. Talking about lazy I should get around to writing out Thank You cards and going grocery shopping.

Wholesale Goods

My sister’s graduation last week went well; saw some old friends amongst the crowd. This week at work has been pretty busy, especially towards the end. Definitely having lots of fun with the young crowd, thanks to newly formed ticketing alliance, I am going to the National’s game tomorrow. This weekend I went out to Union Jack’s with Sarah, Lindsay, Emily and the bunch. I took the metro in- it took longer than I expected. Before I left to go back I was joking about picking up women on the ride back. Of course I then proceeded to meet a beautiful woman named Heidi from Missouri. It’s always excited to randomly meet people.

So far I have been happy with the group of friends I am forming down here- there has always room for more however. I hope to meet lots more people this summer. On Friday I went to an improv show to see a co-worker perform. I hope to get back into theatre locally.

Today I went grocery shopping- I got a membership to Costco and I proceeded to spend a disgusting amount on giant bags of frozen meats and berries. The Costco shopping experience is very interesting. The giant sized carts to match the giant sized items; the bare warehouse like setting that makes you feel like the deals are so good it’s shady; the massive amounts of people also shopping- large carts and all.

Heidi and I were talking about this while watching people on the Metro, it’s interesting to watch people and wonder what they must be thinking about, what drama and strife they must be going through. I was thinking that while carting up and down the isles. I see couples fighting over brands of dishwashing soap. I see children persuading parents to buy some sort of sweetened delight. It’s very interesting to think about. The seedy lives underneath ordinary people- it’s something you could write a movie about. Well of course people have.

I have gotten back into the swing of editing now that I have set up my new Avid Xpress Pro system. I am working to complete a number of projects- including my fake TV series. I have been toying around with a new persona of the next home movies I’m going to make. I have been listening to a lot of Phantom Planet.
